Media Guidelines for Reporting 
on Suicide and Suicide Prevention

Research indicates that the way suicide is reported in the media can contribute to additional suicides and suicide attempts. Conversely, stories about suicide can inform readers and viewers about the likely causes of suicide, its warning signs, trends in suicide rates, and recent treatment advances. The following recommendations have been developed to assist reporters, editors, and professionals working in suicide prevention in safe reporting on suicide.

4th Delaware Suicide Prevention Conference 

The Delaware’s Project LIFE will be hosting Delaware’s Fourth Suicide Prevention Conference on September 14, 2010 from 8:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.at Dover Downs (Dover, DE). This year’s conference theme is entitled, “Finding Balance in an Uneven World” as we will be launching Delaware’s suicide prevention social marketing campaign and raising awareness about suicide and suicide prevention.
